Like a Brother

Midas' group fled as far away from the village as possible till they were out of range. They'd gone into hiding long enough for guards to pass by the area, then they came out. They had just finished looting Clock Village's chief. It was a small village with very little security, a great start for a practice heist for some of the newer recruits. Midas came out of the woods near the fence-line and chuckled. "Ignorant boobs."
The others came out, laughing with him. A female, vine-armed, four-eyed deku with a southern accent choked "We were pretty much in plain sight. Human's sure are stupid, Midas."
 "About as brainless as a rock." he agreed, throwing a little sack of rupees to the four-eyed deku. She caught it precisely in one of her vines, and sat down to count their prize. Another deku came out of hiding silently, sitting on a rock next to Midas. He looked up at Midas- whom had a victorious smirk on his face with his eyes closed as he leaned his head back against one hand on the fence. Wasn't a big heist, but still something.

 "You're not half bad, Kaiser." Midas commented to the deku sitting on the rock.
 "Not like I don't have experience in this thing." Kaiser replied. Midas stared down at Kaiser. He had skill, wasn't really fair to make him do these childish leveled heists. It was obvious he knew what he was doing, and Midas smirked at this.
 "Well, next time, we're doing something bigger. No more kiddie tours." Midas spoke. "Name it, and we'll go for it."
 "Heh, no kidding?" Kaiser asked. Midas gave a nod and answered with "I've been choosing all these, 'bout time someone else gets a turn."

 "Aw Midas, ya never let us choose…" the four-eyed deku sulked. Midas rolled his eyes coldly at this.
 "Just count those rupees…" he growled. The girl sighed and replied- "Yes Midas.". She uttered under her breath "_{Picking favorites now, are we?}"
Midas looked back to Kaiser "Don't mind her…"
Kaiser overheard the girl's complaints, and seemed to notice that Midas did seem to look more highly to him than the others. Sure, they all acted like a giant family, but Midas seemed okay with being close with Kaiser. "Why do you care so much anyway?"
 "Hm?" Midas looked down to Kaiser with a raised brow. "What do you mean care?"
 "Don't play stupid. I haven't been here for long, yet you treat me like we're all buddy-buddy." Kaiser answered as he looked down the trail.

Midas glared daggers at the one counting rupees, before glancing back at Kaiser silently. To say he cared was embarrassing, caring was a sign of weakness… Yet, he did. He brought his head up and looked down the trail in the same direction that Kaiser was looking. He tilted his head a little in thought, and one of his leaves twitched. He answered lowly "You just remind me of someone I used to know."
Kaiser looked back at Midas, though not in a curious way "Who?"
 "… My brother." he sighed "Y'know, the humans… They never really did like us much. I lost my little brother to humans a long time ago- hated their guts since. They look at us like we're crap beneath their feet, and treat us just as equal. They feel no remorse for killing even those who are innocent."

Kaiser agreed with how Midas felt about humans. In a deku's eyes, they were a selfish race who took too much pride in their stature when compared to the dekus. "True… But how do I remind you of him?"
 "I don't know… Just something about you. The day I met you, and you tried to steal my wallet off me… Haha, that was gutsy. You could have lost your hand. But something about the look in your eyes, I felt there was a little more to you than just being some bottom-feeder. Glad I gave you a chance too, you've turned out to be skillful. You deserve more than you had, like my brother did. Besides, there aren't many deku of our body-type. Could use more of those in the group."
Kaiser gave a small smirk. "So you've gone soft because I remind you of your brother huh?"
 "You could say that. You make it sound like respect is a bad thing on my part, though." Midas mused.
 "Well, what if I ended up being a traitor, huh?"
Midas gave a hearty laugh, before replying "Then you'd lose an arm, simple as that. Or worse, depending on the treachery."

Midas paused, before continuing "So long as you don't give me a reason to doubt you, I'll see you like a brother. Stick with me, and you'll end up with everything you want. I mean, we always do in this family."

I dunno, quick sloppy story to go with the drawing XD the drawing was inspired by a picture HolIiewood showed me a while back.
I really can see these guys being like brothers in some way. I don't know why, I just can.
